When I learned about the tragedy that happened to the passenger vessel MV Princess of the Star because of typhoon Frank that hit the Philippines recently, I could not help myself but to feel angry. Why? This is not the first time that happened involving the ship owned by Sulpicio Lines, Inc. In the past several years, MV Dona Paz and MV Marilyn, owned also by Sulpicio Lines, sank and many died on it. Is the company fit to run passenger vessels?
There is also a big question to our government agencies like the Philippine Coast Guard and the MARINA. These government agencies promised to conduct investigations in the past sea tragedies but it seems nothing happened. What happened to the Dona Paz investigations? What Happened to Dona Marilyn investigations? What where their recommendations against the owner - Sulpicio Lines? In the recent sea tragedy involving MV Princess of the Star, they promised an investigations - again!
In my own analysis of the situations, I would recommend and suggest that Sulpicio Lines be stripped of its license to operate passenger vessels in the Philippines. The company records are not worth commendable. Aside of course to its criminal and civil liabilities. My Challenge!
